These make me think of Chris Foss' SF cover art. You can imagine them towering over an alien landscape. I bet, in reality, they're only a few feet high.
I'm not familiar with his work, but these actually did seem sort of "alien" to me when I saw them. In reality they stand about 15 feet high and can be found along the river front in Portland.

Hi, Iris. Guess I haven't had much to write about lately. Got a few days off this week, so hoping to get out and take a some photos.
